耶穌在路加福音21:36 說：「你們要時時警醒，常常祈求，使你們能逃避這一切要來的事，得以站立在人子面前。」使徒保羅在以弗所書6:13 也說：「所以，要拿起 神所賜的全副軍裝，好在磨難的日子抵擋仇敵，並且成就了一切，還能站立得住。」
由此可見站立並不是一件理所當然的事，上面的兩節經文提醒我們，基督徒想要在末世的災難中不至跌倒必須要常常警醒守望，建立起個人禱告的生活型態，並且要時常穿戴聖靈的全副軍裝（弗6:10-18）；當我們這樣作的時候，我們才能堅定站立到底。
此後，我觀看，見有許多的人，沒有人能數過來，是從各國、各族、各民、各方來的，站在寶座和羔羊面前，身穿白衣，手拿棕樹枝，大聲喊著說：「願救恩歸與坐在寶座上我們的 神，也歸與羔羊！」（啟7:9-10）
Jesus said in Luke 21:36, “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” And Apostle Paul also said in Ephesians 6:13, “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
From these verses we gather that to stand is not something to be taken for granted. Christians are reminded to keep watch always, to develop a lifestyle of prayer, and to put on the full armor of God if we want to keep ourselves from stumbling through the end time tribulations. Only by taking heed of these things will we able to stand firm until the end.
After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (Rev. 7:9-10)
