第九章提到米非波設,他是以色列前朝王子約拿單的兒子;

因著罪的緣故,我們有後天的殘缺(瘸腿);

Update from Hachinohe

Konnichiwa ( Hello )!
Brian and I would like to share some updates on us.

We would like to thank each every one of you for sending us aloha shirts. We delivered them to a gathering of 37people of Tohoku region on 3/23.

Special thanks to the following people……

Linda- we are so glad that the Lord put in your heart to send woman’s aloha shirts. They really loved them. Please see the following article on us.
You will see Linda’s aloha shirts on the paper!
http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/otona/news/20130325-OYT8T00515.htm
To me, this was a symbol of love of God that was expressed through the gifts you sent!

Kevin & Shirley- You two initiated to send us Hawaiian caps last year.
We finally got to bless people through the gift!

We also brought Hawaiian coasters, name tags sent by Pastor Mei Li last year.
May the Lord bless you all for what you have done!

When our friend, Mayumi invited us to the gathering, she warned us not to share anything about Christianity. I guess we are not allowed to share the faith of any religion at public meeting in Japan.
We were asked to give a speech, so we seek the Lord what we should share. We felt He wants them to know that they are NOT forgotten. People in Hawaii still care about them and pray for them. Even we can’t share about Jesus, if we focus on love, He abides in us (1 John 4:12)
I saw people crying during the speech given by Brian, we believed that the Lord was touching them.
These 37 people were forced to move from their homes due to a radiation or loss of homes. Many people were willing to share their pains, concerns, and fears with us.
We also asked the Lord before the meeting, “Please bring people whom you want us to connect with”… And He did!
Mr Fukuda and his family were forced to evacuate from Fukushima because his house was situated in the area of high radiation.
He approached us because he wanted to discuss about radiation problems in Fukushima. During the conversation, he mentioned a Christian pastor who is against the restarting of the nuclear plant. So we said, we are Christians, too! Then he said ” I went to a seminary school, but I couldn’t follow regulations of the denominationI used to belong to , so I stopped being a Christian.
He invited us to his home because he wanted to talk to us more. We met his wife and mother in-law. His wife, Hiroko, also used to be a Christian, but she does not want to believe in Jesus anymore.
She has been in depression since 3/11. We felt the Lord wants to bring them back to Him. He sees their pains and wants to reach out to them. We are so grateful that we can be there for them. We decided to get together time to time. Please add Mr & Mrs Fukuda in your prayer.

Ah, we finally purchased a car 2 days ago! Thank U for all your prayers. This car was 10 yrs old, but unbelievably in a good, I mean a perfect condition.
When the Lord gives us something, He does give us the best.
It was a worthwhile waiting!

We have 2 more students for English lessons.
Their names are Shizuka and Riko. We are excited for more opportunity to share about Jesus.

We were also asked to teach Sunday School and lead a small group at a local church we have been visiting. Please continue to pray for the unity among us. It has been an amazing journey how the Lord opens a door.
Brian and I are so humbled by His goodness.
Your prayer, support and love allows us to be where we are!
Until next time……

Much love,
Brian & His scribe, Yuka

The following day, the servant prepared to return to Canaan immediately, yet Rebekah’s relatives did not want her to leave so quickly.  They requested for her to stay for another ten days, but the servant insisted to hit the road at once.  When asked of her opinion, Rebekah agreed to leave right away.  So the family members blessed her and sent her on.  When they got to Negev where Isaac lived, Rebekah looked up and saw Isaac meditating in the field.  The servant reported what happened to Isaac; Isaac then took Rebekah into his mother Sarah’s tent, and the two of them got married and became husband and wife.

God is a giver of faith (Acts 3:16; Rom. 12:3; Eph. 6:23); whether it’s the saving faith (Eph. 2:8) or the spiritual gift of supernatural faith (1 Cor. 12:9), they are all from God.  The faith of the servant and of Rebekah were both given by God as well, and even the blessings spoken over Rebekah by her relatives was an expression of faith.  Secondly, God is the God of marriage.  He arranged the marriage of Isaac and Rebekah, and He will prepare a perfect and spotless bride for His beloved Son Jesus!  Thirdly, God is a God of comfort.  When Isaac meditated in the field, God brought his wife to him.  He thus was comforted from his grief of the loss of his mother.

Without faith we cannot please God (Heb. 11:6).  Without faith the servant of Abraham could not persist in this journey; without faith Rebekah would not be able to leave her home at once and followed the servant to marry a stranger whom she never met before.  Faith is the cornerstone of our spiritual life (2 Pet. 1:5-7).  Jesus told us to build a house on top of the rock (Matt. 7:24-27).  The foundation of this house is faith in Christ, and if our faith is not rock-solid, then it would be like building a house on quicksand; the house can come tumbling down at any moment.  True faith from God is also a living faith, one that obeys God’s Word and brings forth action (James 2:17); it is not a lifeless faith with only head knowledge.

Thank You Lord for building Isaac’s household, and for giving him the faithful Rebekah as his wife, bringing comfort to his heart.  Thank You for using Rebekah’s relatives to restate Your covenant of grace, that Abraham’s offspring will be greatly blessed and will possess the gates of their enemies, for they are more than conquerors!  Thank You Lord that spiritual inheritance can be passed down through generations, so that Your people can receive blessings that are pressed down, shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38).  And these are not just physical inheritance, but also spiritual inheritance–which are abundant faith, sharp and clear spiritual discernment, and immediate and complete obedience.  Some of these blessings are viewed by the people of this world as foolishness (1 Cor. 2:14), yet wisdom is proved right by all her children (Matt. 11:19b; Luke 7:35).

Child, I love you, and I’m pleased to bless you.  What I give is unlike what people give.  You can only receive if you receive by faith.  Do not keep your eyes on those temporal things that are seen, but turn your eyes to gaze upon me.  The more you come close to me, the more you will understand my will for you.  For my love to you is more than what you can ask or think of.  So do not choose the second best, but choose the very best.  For I long to give you the very best of blessings.  Would you come and receive?

Higher education taught me to analyze economic effectiveness and to make decisions based on external circumstances.  These and other methods that are esteemed in this day and age run contrary to the principle of faith taught in the Bible.  In order to receive heavenly blessings we need to give up the wrong earthly value system, or else these thinking patterns can blur our sight, and even bring us into confusion.  Because we might thought that we can receive God’s blessings on the one hand, and at the same time receive all the comfort offered by this world on the other hand.  The peace that God wants to give to His people is a deeper peace that will allow us to rest even in great storms, and this peace will last forever.  The comfort offered by the world is a luxury that requires us to sacrifice our family and health to bear the heavy emotional work pressures, and this comfort only last for a fleeting moment.

Lord Jesus, please give me faith to overcome this world, so that I can gaze into Your eyes of passionate flame and Your face like a shining sun (Rev. 1:14, 16).  Lord, I repent to You for judging right from wrong based on the value system of this world.  Please burn Your Word onto my heart to renew my mind and my thoughts, so that I may see things with Your eyes.  That I may love what You love and hate what You hate, and that I may choose the better part, and not be drawn by the lesser things.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Choose the Pathway of Faith

Devotional Journal

The Lord Appeared to Abraham

God Appeared to Abraham near the Trees of Mamre

God appeared to Abraham, and Abraham received Him with great hospitality.  Then God confirmed once again that he and Sarah will have a son the following year, yet Sarah laughed to herself with disbelief.  God pointed out Sarah’s thought and challenged their faith, saying, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”  Even though Sarah denied the doubt in her mind, but God didn’t let go of her.

God is a God who appears to His people.  He is a God who will not stop affirming His promises in order to increase our faith.  And He knows our deepest thoughts, and desires us to face Him and ourselves honestly.

Thank You Lord for not forgetting Your promises to Abraham, and You didn’t take Your promises back despite their disbelief.  Time and again You strengthened Abraham’s faith with Your word so that he eventually became the father of faith and a blessing to the nations!

I need to expect God to show up in my life, and not let the worries of this world, pressures of my life, or other shining and blinking objects blind my spiritual sight.  In addition to keeping a clean heart so that I may see the Lord (Matt. 5:8), I also need to let His word filled my heart always so that I don’t lose faith (Rom. 10:17).

My heart tends to be drawn by the world more than by God, and that’s why my faith is often weak.  I need to turn off the computer and come back before God to seek after Him.  For the more I pursue Him, the more I will desire Him.

Child, I never take back my calling and destiny for you.  Don’t lose your faith, but look upon and seek after my face; listen to my call of love to you.  Do not let the environment and circumstances sway you, but make everything and everyone you touch holy.  You are my son, with whom I am well pleased.

Lord Jesus, thank You for increasing my inner strength with Your word, so that I can overcome temptations and remain steadfast on Your promised path.  Even though I sometimes lose faith, but You are always faithful.  And nothing is impossible for You; You will help me walk through all the challenges and difficulties that I face.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Update from Hachinohe

Aloha! Dear sisters and brothers of New Life ICF.
Brian and I pray that 2013 will be the year of full of His joy, peace and love!
We would like to share some updates on us.

Editor of Hawaii Houchi ( ハワイ報知)contacted us after he read the article that Kumi wrote .
Somehow he found it in the Daily News paper website. Again, God is beyond our understanding…
Instead of being happy about it, my ( Yuka ) first reaction was ” I was nervous”.
I did not realize that I felt shame after being turned down by NHK Aomori ( TV program).
I felt that what Brian and I have been trying to do would not be recognized by people in JPN.
I realized that I was trying to make myself  look bigger than who I am.
After talking with God, and repented, I asked Him ” If this is your will for me to share, please help me to write.”
I felt so much freedom after that and I could write freely.( I attached a copy of the news paper.)
I shared about both of our good and uncomfortable experiences since we moved to Hachinohe also, how people are still struggling in Tohoku.
Even though we can’t do anything big, or might not be recognized, if we are allowed to care and help one person,
we want to be there for that person. Because we believe what the bible says, ” Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored. And I have loved you.” We wanted to share His heart of how precious we are!
Surprisingly, he did not edit  any part of the article. I thanked the Lord for the opportunity and received another freedom in my heart!

The Lord has been bringing more people into our lives. We have been praying for more people, but the way He does things is always unexpectedly. We can never out think our God.
I want to list the names of people who need prayer. None of them are saved yet, so please pray with us for their salvation.
Please pray for me and Brian that we only do what the Lord wants us to do. If possible could you pray Colossians 1:9-12 for us.
One of the things that disappoints us is when people praise us we don’t want them to focus on us ,but want them to see Jesus!

Here is the list of our friends in Hachinohe

1. Yuko ( she takes English lesson from us)
2. Kozue, Shinsei(8yrs) and Yuzuki ( 7yrs) ( 2 children take English lesson from us) f
3. Shigeki Nakui
4. Haruka & Chris
5. Saka-san
6. Ayako-san
7. Mr& Mrs Hasegawa
8. Mayumi-san and Aika
9. Mr & Mrs Takada
10. Tony & Coco
11. Ritsuko
12. Kumi
13. Sachiki & Kimio

We received a letter from Kumi. She said that she felt so light and warm when she came to Hawaii. She really appreciates each and everyone of you, especially Pastor Mei LI.  What Pastor Mei Li prayed for her really made an impact in her heart.
She realized that life is not all about work or success. She was given a chance for promotion after she came back from Hawaii.
She said she was very happy, but turned it down.
Because she wants to re-evaluate her life to seek what she really should do in her life.
Please pray that the seed we planted will continue to grow in her heart.

Lastly we want to share the note from a book called ” The Emotionally Healthy Church” by Peter Scazzero.
This is what Brian & I have been experiencing since we moved to JPN. We felt sometime we were going backwards…
Thanks to the faithful God who gives us comfort when we need.
We thought this might help and encourage some of you.

” God the Divine Archaeologist”
As we progress in the Christian life, we find that it is a never-ending process. We go back, breaking some destructive power of the past. Then later, on a deeper level, God has us return to the same issue on a more profound level. I suspect more conversions will follow for me in the years to come. Thomas Keating  compares God’s work in us to a Middle Eastern tell, or archaeological site, in which one civilization is built on another in the same place. Archaeologists excavate level by level, culture by culture, down through history. The Holy Spirit is like a divine archaeologist digging through they layers of our lives.

The Spirit intends to investigate our whole life history, layer by layer, throwing out the junk and preserving the values that were appropriate to each stage or our human development… Eventually, the Spirit begins to dig into the bedrock of our earliest emotional life…. Hence as we progress toward the center where God is actually waiting for us, we are naturally going to feel that we are getting worse. This warns us that the spiritual journey is not a success story or a career move. It is rather a series of humiliations of the false self.

God  uses disorienting events and experiences to do a profound inner work in us. Every spiritual journey takes us to the hardest realities in our lives, the monsters within us, our shadows and strongholds, our willful flesh, and our inner demons. It is essential that we understand these enemies within us or we will inevitably project them outward on to other people”

Pray for Hindus

Last month the Director of YWAM Frontier Missions South Asia, Cindy Anderson, came and shared their ministries. Many of us responded to pray with them. Starting Tuesday (10/16) was the Hindu festival of Navratri. This festival will last for nine nights and Christians are encouraged to pray for the believers of Hinduism during this festival of heightened spiritual activities. Pray that they will be shown the gospel truth and the salvation through Jesus Christ and be freed from darkness and spiritual oppression. Here is a prayer guide teaching Christians how to pray during the Navratri festival period: Prayer Guide (click to download). Let’s intercede together for our brothers and sisters still in Hinduism!
